Mitford, Nancy
(28 nov. 1904, Londres, Inglaterra–30 jun. 1973, Versalles, Francia).

Escritora británica. Nació en el seno de una familia excéntrica y aristocrática; se hizo conocida por sus ingeniosas novelas satíricas sobre la vida de la clase alta, entre ellas, las casi autobiográficas En busca del amor (1945), Amor en un clima frío (1949), La bendición (1951) y No se lo cuentes a Alfred (1960). Un volumen de ensayos que coeditó, Noblesse Oblige [Nobleza obliga] (1956), dio a conocer la diferencia entre los usos lingüísticos de la clase alta y la clase baja. Su hermana Jessica (1917–1996) fue una escritora que se destacó por sus ensayos sobre la sociedad estadounidense; su obra más conocida fue The American Way of Death [El estilo de muerte norteamericano] (1963).
